UNVEILING OF P. R. PRADHAN’S BOOK BY SIKKIM MINISTER AT KALIMPONG

Webdesk, TNI Kalimpong, 10th August, 2015: The tourism minister of Sikkim Mr. Ugen Gyatso Bhutia has unveiled an autobiography of P. R. Pradhan last week here in Kalimpong. Mr. Bhutia, during unveiling the autobiography ‘Kehi bot, kehi beruwa’ of the former principal of SUMI said that it is his privilege to release a book written by a teacher who once taught him. Sharing his experiences while he was a student of SUMI, the minister referring to P.R Pradhan appeals the students to consider their teachers like God. Praising Kalimpong for their initiation in educational institutions the Minister later proclaimed that Sikkim was 65 years behind in that field, ‘When Kalimpong was preparing for their diamond jubilee of schools (old schools like SUMI and Girls High School) Sikkim had just started with few institutions’ said the minister. Meanwhile, students with the best academic scores in the last board exam were felicitated with P.R Pradhan merit award and Bhaichand Puraskar, which had a citation, memento, and cash of 10,000 rupees. Kalimpong toppers (of Madhyamik) Pooja Gurung from St. Philomena and Bivek Sharma from SUMI have received the special award. However, other (approximate) 80 students who scored more than 65% were also felicitated with citations and gifts in the same program.
